Viva Espana! Tots taught Spanish language at nursery

It’s a 'hola' of fun at one Maghull nursery where youngsters are learning Spanish.

The tots at It's the Little Things started learning the language this month when they recruited Spanish teacher Christine Wortley.

Children are taught through songs, role play and how to say their name in Spanish. Christine has more than six years’ teaching experience.

She said: "I'll be teaching basic vocabulary, numbers and songs, as well as role play. In my experience, introducing children to a second language so soon builds confidence and encourages them to continue with languages when they go to school." Manager of the nursery on Liverpool Road South, Danniella Rockliffe-Booth said: "Children learn so much at this early stage in their lives.

"It’s a great opportunity to introduce them to a new language when they’re so keen to learn.

"It will also help when the children go on holiday, they’ll be able to connect when they hear the foreign language. "The father of one of our new babies is Spanish, and even at 20 months the child is speaking some Spanish words."
