Little Things make a lot of money
Children, parents and staff are celebrating at one Maghull nursery after raising more than £1,000 for charity.
It’s the Little Things, on Liverpool Road South, more than doubled the sum they raised last year, beating their charity record.
Almost 80 children, parents and staff from the nursery donned their cowboys hats and Indian feathers for this year’s annual Big Toddle, which took place on Friday, July 25. And just like the Wild West, the sun was beating down on the plains of Parkhaven Trust, as the children set off on their mile-long walk across the fields.
Manager Sue Carr said the event “great fun”, helped of course by the weather.
"We did it last year and raised £500 for Barnardo’s and the nursery," she said. "We never imagined we would be able to beat that figure.
"It was an excellent opportunity for children, staff and parents to do an activity together."
The children ranged from the youngest of four months to the eldest at five years old.
Sue said she couldn’t believe how the event has gained momentum in only a year, with 14 parents and one four-legged friend, Rodney, joining the toddle.
'It was great fun. We got into our characters, singing ‘She’ll be Coming Round the Mountain'.
"Of course, it was thirsty work, so the children had to get off their reliable steeds - and their buggies - for a drink and snack break before setting off into the sunset again."
