Other people think we're quite good too. In fact, we're award-winning, recently named the UK’s Best Outdoor Learning Environment at the Nursery Management Today Awards.
It wasn’t just the amazing location that impressed them but the way in which we encouraged the children to help design as well as use the space. Our story circle made of recycled logs quickly becomes a campfire then a circus ring, while the playhouse becomes a train station or a shop. We encourage our children to take risks and be independent – an aspect highlighted by our local Early Years team and by Nursery Management Today.
The judges were impressed to see children using real bricks and real planks of wood in the construction area – all carefully risk assessed of course. They also loved the fact that the woodland was used regularly for bug hunts, exploring and Forest Schools sessions, led by our Early Years Professional.
We’re also members of the National Day Nurseries Association – the industry organisation committed to best quality childcare and learning for children (www.ndna.org.uk).
